Saudi Arabia's Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced that privately owned vehicles registered in the GCC states may stay in the Kingdom for no more than 90 days in every 365-day period, continuous or separate, starting 26 August 2026.
The period is counted from the first day the vehicle enters through a customs port. The rule covers private vehicles owned by Saudi citizens or residents of the Kingdom and excludes rental vehicles of licensed GCC companies. Anyone needing an extension should contact the Ministry of Interior.
ZATCA later clarified that vehicles already in the Kingdom that entered driven by a Saudi citizen or a non-GCC resident fall under a 90-day corrective grace period, during which they must either leave the Kingdom or be registered locally with Saudi plates. Vehicles driven by their GCC owner are not covered by the grace period.
The decision regulates the temporary admission of vehicles at land borders — the field in which the federation's member clubs work through temporary-admission documents (carnets / triptyques).
