Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy spoke in the "Seamless Travel" session of the Global Leaders Dialogue organised by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) in Valletta, Malta, ahead of the Council's 26th Global Summit (7–9 October 2026).

The session covered easier border crossings, modernised border procedures and biometric technology. The minister said that scaling up seamless travel requires clear, internationally agreed rules and controls, so that countries developing their own systems know what is required.

He stressed the need to define roles and responsibilities among all parties, locally and internationally, to balance smoother traveller movement with security and regulatory requirements.
